11.5.16
From the hours of: 1-3:30
Today was the last day of my hours, and Lord am I thankful! It was one rough ride, but this is the last of them. During this session I took pictures of my friend, Alexia Martin, that would be used within my final product. Within the 2.5 hours that I spent in Davidson with her and taking pictures around the campus, I used my knowledge from previous sessions to benefit myself during this one. I used my knowledge of Tv (aperture priority), manual settings, and rules of thirds and depth of field. For the entire photography session I used my 50mm lens on a lower aperture setting, although not the lowest one because I learned that it is not always your friend. Within this session I also used my previous knowledge of white balance, even though it took me a few tries to get the coloring right. A huge issue during this session was the sunlight! I really did not think that this would affect the camera and the picture quality that much but it did. I learned that photos are better taken in the shade on a bright day than in bright sunlight! It was pretty interesting to learn that because I definitely didn't know that before. The aesthetic of Davidson and the aesthetic of the person I was taking pictures of blended together very well. She is a person of art and style and Davidson is a place of culture, art, and interesting people. I think that the 2.5 hours I spent in Davidson with her were an overall success and the photos that I took will be of extreme benefit towards my final product!
